Holly Hill collection, 1974- [ongoing]. 1974-

The collection contains scrapbooks documenting her activity as a theatre critic and author including reviews, photographs, correspondence, programs. Also included in the collection are materials related to her dissertation about Terence Rattigan, extensive professional correspondence with the theatre editor of The Times (London), as well as correspondence related to her book Playing Joan. In addition the collection contains sound cassettes (copies - the originals are in the Spoken Word Collection at the Library of the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center, New York City) which are Holly Hill interviews with a number of distinguished American and British actresses who played Saint Joan in Bernard Shaw play, among whom are: Jane Alexander, Eileen Atkins, Elisabeth Bergen, Zoe Caldwell, Judi Dench, Ellen Geer, Wendy Hiller, Barbara Jefford, Joan Plowright, Lynn Redgrave, Siân Phillips. Among the cassettes are interviews with Terence Rattigan, Harold Clurman, Henry Hewes and others, all related to Terence Rattigan plays. There are also 15 interview tapes with stage managers for an incomplete project.
